How to Replace a Clock Spring (airbag light & horn not working)
Learn how to turn off your airbag light and fix a horn that doesn't work by replacing your clock spring. Replacing a clock spring is very simple, saves us over $600 and takes less than an hour. I will show you how to safely remove the airbag and steering wheel so you can replace the clockspring at home using common hand tools.
To figure out I had a bad clock spring, I used an obd2 scanner to scan the airbag light and got codes b1801 and b1811 which is an open squib circuit, which means the clock spring is bad. Another way to tell the clock spring is bad is the horn doesn't work and/or the steering wheel buttons don't work.

BEAUTIFUL / EXCELLENT / NICE job CF! Kudos and MANY THANKS indeed. I might do this myself after all: '94 Buick Regal which, two or three years ago started honking steadily during the wee hours of the a.m. (neighbor's delight). Then it began honking, steadily, while driving! Embarrassing, people around me actually moved over ... or thought I was under a bad road rage episode and shook their head while I shyly passed them by. You, young man / mechanic, are awesome.

Hi. my 13 GT had The Advance Track needs service light come on and also had no power steering. I was told by auto repair shop the code reader said it was a Ford Steering Wheel Position Sensor. Is this the same thing as the Clock-Spring ? I can't find the Position, so maybe the Clock spring does both ??? Thanks

My horn wasn't working and I had an airbag light and it turned out to be both the clockspring and the horn. Also you can pull the codes by jumping the obd2 plug and getting it to cycle through the codes by flashing the ABS light... each car has a different way of doing this.

I'd like to recommend you that it'd be better and safer to pull the orange safety tab from the clock spring after you reinstall the steering wheel, so it wouldn't be a headache to line it straight
no1unorightnowUukausi sitten
15:10 the combination of threadlocker (or anti-seize) with a torque wrench is a bad idea; because both provide some initial lubricant, you end up with a higher compression than what the same torque would have applied to dry parts

Why you mark there while most cars are marked there already for you? Your clock spring no need of re- centred?

Would the clock spring also be the reason for a horn that is stuck in the on position?

I asked my dealership and he said he would not trust the 20$ China one... is it like a big Toyota scam or is it really dangerous, cheap security 20$ part that will make my airbag explode in my face at any moment??
