If it's Ethanol Free, it doesn't matter. Fuel that has Ethanol should be 91 octane or higher. Ethanol destroys engines because of scale that forms during the burning process. Ethanol was a bad idea and the lies have come out 50 years later. I have had the best performance and fuel economy from Shell gas and the difference between < 91 and 91 or greater is very noticeable.

I've tried 87 and 93 octane gas. Got a 2009 SRX and get almost 2 mpg more with 93 octane. Done that d for years. I don't go along with this.

What about ethanol-free gas? Thats what I use in my 2018 camry. And I used in my 2016. But the motor oil started to smell like gasoline in the block and on the dipstick. Is it bad to use only ethanol-free gas?

in denmark we only got 3 octane 92 - 95 - 99 realy old cars can get low octane fuel at depots and its 85 octan, is the Usa car fleet realy that old that you use that low octan fuel ?

Good add on the E-85. Consider updating and talking about the Ethanol free fuel and the benefits it can provide. Ethanol free does have more energy (a little) since gas is more energy dense than ethanol; and it usually provides a small increase in MPGs. However, In my experience, the increased cost isn’t worth the increased MPG.

I have a flex fuel F150 and use premium fuel . I also go with premium AmsOil because it’s the better decision for long engine life

I had a 4 cylinder and a V8 and I tried all and found both ran best on plus 89. Right in between. Premium is good for sports cars, regular is good for lawnmowers. Go right in between can't go wrong. I still say diesel is by far the best fuel and engines.

I have an 07 Acura RL it requires premium but I just can’t bring myself to spend that much money on gas so I run midgrade has been fine so far. I should probably through premium in it every now then though I suppose

87 octane is the cleanest. Catalytic Cracking method makes higher octane dirtier. In general terms. Using heavy molecules to create octane instead of the old way of using lead. The higher the octane, the more heavier molecules have been used to get there. Thus, carbon build up. If you can run 87, then do it. Your engine will thank you and not have as many drivability issues.

Higher octane is the only gas to run in today's air cooled motorcycle engines and high performance car engines due to its control of pre destination. Any car or truck that is stock runs well on 87 octane. With that said if your car is feeling sluggish you can run your car down to almost empty and add 5 to 10 gallons of high test to clean out the carbon deposits. Not needed all the time it's like a 6 month interval.

When possible, add any injector cleaner or octane boost BEFORE filling the tank. The fuel pouring in will create a natural mixing action.
